David serves as managing partner for the advisory practice. In addition to this role, David is a tax partner who began his practice focusing on closely held businesses and their owners, then advising publicly traded companies on ASC 740. David’s leadership roles with the firm began by serving as the Atlanta tax practice leader before becoming the Atlanta office managing partner in 2008, followed by his role as regional managing partner upon the formation of the firm’s south region. David assumed the role of regional managing partner for the advisory practice in 2019. David serves clients in multiple industries, with a tax practice focusing on business consulting, transaction planning, structure and implementation, tax consulting, estate tax, and succession planning. He offers significant experience in finance and mergers and acquisitions, specializing in entity structuring to maximize flexibility and minimize corporate and individual income tax liabilities. David has been influential in spearheading the firm’s common interest groups, including serving as executive sponsor for the firm’s African American Network.

A veteran tax and consulting professional with more than 20 years of experience working with clients in multiple industries, he focuses on tax and consulting, with a particular emphasis on public and privately held corporations and flow-through entities. He also advises on estate tax and succession planning. Specific services include: tax services, tax advisory, income tax, corporate tax, partnership taxation, tax research, tax outsourcing, ASC 740 (formerly SFAS 109), tax compliance and consulting, public companies and flow-through entities, mergers, GAAP, finance, management consulting, SEC filings, due diligence, and internal controls.

David combines his professional skills with a robust commitment to the community. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and GSCPA. He was Outstanding Young Alumni, Haslam College of Business, The University of Tennessee Knoxville, 2009 (Inaugural award year). He is a member of St. Jude’s Recovery Center, Advisory Committee; Camp Kudzu, Board of Directors; The Ph.D. Project, Board of Directors; Haslam College of Business, The University of Tennessee Knoxville, Advisory Board; Growing Leaders, Advisory Board; and Atlanta Friendship Initiative.

He is a graduate of The University of Tennessee Knoxville, with a B.S. degree in accounting and an M.Acc. degree.
