CMS delayed the submission of the mandatory provider revalidation application for skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), this time from May 1, 2025 to August 1, 2025. Presumably, this delay is in response to the low percentage (approximately 20%) of SNFs that have completed the process as of mid-March.
CMS is requesting information from significantly more individuals and organizations that facilities work with. The information being requested is more detailed as well: nearly 20 pages of information are now required for each individual and ADP. The responses change depending on whether the SNF and the ADP are a limited liability company (LLC), partnership, corporation, etc. ADPs include organizations that may not initially seem disclosable, such as accounting/cost report preparers, contract rehab organizations, and other consultants, regardless of common ownership.
Besides the off-cycle revalidations, CMS is requiring the additional information for any change of ownership or enrollment of SNFs that are in process.
While the new submission deadline provides some relief for providers who had yet to submit their revalidations, the amount of information required has not changed and could still require significant time to gather, complete, and submit the application depending on your ownership/control structure.
Given this, it is encouraged that providers stay the course in getting their enrollments revalidated sooner rather than later. Providers who do not submit their revalidation applications prior to the August 1 deadline face possible suspension of Medicare payments. Forvis Mazars has been working with skilled nursing providers throughout the process and is available to assist you with the timely completion and submission of your application.
