JACKSONVILLE, Florida – Steve Whetstine has joined Forvis Mazars as a partner in the audit practice at the firm’s Jacksonville office.
Whetstine brings nearly 30 years of experience working with companies across various industries, including real estate, asset management, construction, manufacturing, distribution, food and beverage, technology, higher education, and nonprofits. He has assisted clients with initial public offerings, secondary offerings, and private placements. His responsibilities have included planning and performing financial statement audits for public and private companies and providing attestation on internal controls over financial reporting.
Before joining Forvis Mazars in October, Whetstine worked for a large international firm, where he served large and midsize public and private companies and acted as an engagement quality review partner for International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) audits. During that time, he was also involved in various audit quality initiatives, including internal inspections and in-flight review programs.
“Steve’s extensive experience and leadership skills, as well as his demonstrated commitment to audit quality, will be tremendous assets to our clients and to our firm,” said Paul Thompson, managing partner for the Florida practice unit at Forvis Mazars. “This move is also aligned with our strategic initiatives and commitment to grow our Florida presence.”
On November 1, Forvis Mazars announced that it was joining forces with MSL, P.A., an audit, tax, and consulting services firm with approximately 120 professionals. This expansion will extend Forvis Mazars’ Florida footprint to Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, and Tallahassee.
“I’m excited to join Forvis Mazars and help the firm continue to build momentum in the Florida market,” Whetstine said. “I am impressed with the commitment and investment that the firm is making, and I look forward to supporting these growth initiatives.”
Whetstine holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, and earned a master of business administration degree from William & Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia.
